The order I've come up with, using die rolls, is Phrost Bobo SaturdaySaint Slant/Rhyme Misterlich Crowbeard Quor CKscientist rimtlan Meinzer
As for some specifics, the polls look like as far as names goes, whatever Phrost ends up with at random; you'll have three days after getting the save to play your year (and getting the save to the next player is between you two; rapid-share, email, whatever); and the number one goal is to survive, but feel free to start any crazy projects you want (as long as the don't cripple the fort, and don't feel bad if the next player doesn't finish it). Also, it looks like we'll be using vanilla DF, so get your tilesets ready if you use them. I'd say let's hope to have the game started in the next couple of days (say, by the 18th at least?)
Strike the earth.

It might be worth posting the saves at the end of each year on these forums, for posterity, and as a record if someone doesn't complete their turn.

Looks like I've got a whole 27 days before I go, if everybody takes their time.

Lucky 7th place...
I'll try and pretend that that means I'll have a fully functioning infrastructure when my turn finally comes around.

So, anyone have a particular seed that they want me to use?
What features do we want on embark?
Also, I think posting the save here on the forum is the best idea; zipped up should be fine. Maybe attach it to the journal post?

By the Emperor! I'm last! Oh well, at least all the major will be done by the time it's my turn then. Gives me plenty of room to mess around. Also, did we ever decided where we're going to make this hole in the ground?

Also, can we all agree to not rage at how others build their forts? I know we're all on different skill levels, and some (myself included) have a lot to learn yet. And in DF you learn by having fun.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF NO MY DESIGN PATTERN IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR TO PHROSTS I MEAN JESUS HE PROBABLY USES 5 BY 5 SQUARES INSTEAD OF THE SUPERIOR 4 BY 6 RECTANGLES
Sarcasm aside:
Alright, looks like I've got a lot of shit that I get to fuck up. Glorious.

Glorious. Actually, it's all 3x3.... <smirk at the incoming rage> No, I usually don't go for a modular "these bedrooms can become workshops if I feel like it" design; I usually have a generic "workshops" room where the interior is interchangable, a "kitchen/tanner/things-that-go-rot" area with interchangable rooms, an EPIC bedroom-with-no-interior-walls where every dorf gets 3x3 of engraved goodies. Honestly, I'm assuming that we're doing the obsidian tower goal, so whatever I set up won't matter that much in the long run, as long as it's survivable in the time it takes to get mid-way through construction of the tower. To that end, let me know if there's some particular dig pattern that is essential to anyone's plans; otherwise I'll just go with a solid design that avoids too much unneccessary running. Oh, and I'm on EST (-5 UTC) time, so I'll probably gen this up either at work today or tonight, and post it for everyone to debate about optimal embark spots, then completely ignore all your suggestions and embark on a tree-less desert glacier with only 2 cats tonight.

I'm partial to volcanic hellworlds myself. Though you need to be careful about what you set the max temperature to in the world generator. Just because you can set it to 1000 doesn't mean it's necessarily a good idea.

I don't know if you guys were already planning on it, but Photbucket works really well to host the images and then gives you the code to post them in the forum for your little show and tell. I know that's what I'm going to use anyway.

Hey, do the following things impact everyone if I start a world with my init.txt settings changed:
[ECONOMY:NO] [ZERO_RENT:YES]
Basically, I find all the "Beardy McBeardson has altered the price of goods" announcements to be pointless, and having all my dorfs too poor to afford the epic bedrooms I have constructed for them upsets me greatly (and overflows my barracks/hospital...)
Also: Pop cap? Leave it at the default 200, bump it up (please god no), or trim it down to something less?

Alright, because I wasn't happy with any of the worlds I was generating, I used one of the pre-seeds listed on the wiki. Went with this one: www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Pregenerated_Worlds#Good_Mix_of_Resourcesbecause things like Chasm weren't showing up on my screen (though I could search for them) and I didn't want to use reveal.exe Picked roughly the same spot; expanded it eastward by 1 notch because I lurvs me some tree-harvesting (and pissing off the elves). Would've prefered a denser forest (a stockpile of anything less than 2000 logs just can't keep up with my industrial needs...), but we'll make do with what we've got. Searching for "other interesting features" didn't turn up a result on this, so we may be without adamantium. Anyway, strike the earth! Home civ didn't have bauxite, which makes me worry. Brought 16 of each seed, for those who like farming. I figure that if you can't grow a self-sustaining plot with that many seeds, you're doin' it wrong. Also brought mood-materials, in case we get moods before traders. Anyway, I'll run this through tonight, play my year, and post the results (in BoatMurdered story form, of course). Hooray the "Dabbledcities"!

Yeah, alright scratch that. It just didn't sit right with me to use a pre-gen'ed seed, so I tweaked around with the world gen params a bit more. Nobody wanted Desert or Marsh, so I took those out, in order to increase the forest/mountains/volcanos, and I think I got something that will work. Going to investigate embark zones in just a bit, then I'll post the starting load-out and actually get to playing.

Hey, do the following things impact everyone if I start a world with my init.txt settings changed: [ECONOMY:NO] [ZERO_RENT:YES] It's probably wisest just to leave it as is. After all, for the early game at least you don't have to worry about the economy at all.

I'll be leaving tomorrow, and I'll be gone for five days. I messaged Quor about a position switch, since his place in line would be a convenient time for me, assuming everybody takes one day. However, I have yet to hear back, and I'm going to bed soon. If possible, it would be nice if you could just skip my turn, and then I could jump back in line when I get back.

I'd gladly do a switch, 3rd place sounds like my kind of gig.

After the last person, are we going to start over again and repeat until the fortress falls, or just call it quits once the last person finishes.

I'm probably down for indefinite continuity. I assume some people will eventually drop out along the way, but that really shouldn't interrupt things.

I stopped before finishing a year because I was taking too long (I think I was in my forth day out of the allotted 3). I PM'd Saturdaysaint with the save in case the link in my main post was somehow too subtle, neglecting to note his statement that he won't be using his computer for an indefinite period of time.
Oops.

Actually, it's a very definite period of time. Until the 20th, but that's too long for me to wait to take my turn. I'll just wait until my turn comes back around on the next go, assuming everybody's up for indefinite continuity.
